Cohesive Technologies Inc. Announces Aria™ Interface for Thermo Electron’s

Finnigan™ TSQ Quantum™ Line of Mass Spectrometers

FRANKLIN, Mass., May 21, 2004 – Cohesive Technologies Inc. (www.cohesivetech.com) announced today that it has developed an interface with Thermo Electron Corporation’s Xcalibur™ 1.4 mass spectrometry (MS) software. This new interface allows Cohesive and Thermo to expand their relationship by extending LC/MS/MS options on Cohesive’s Aria systems and the Finnigan TSQ Quantum series mass spectrometers, which will enhance their customers’ drug discovery and development efforts.

The interface allows sample information to pass from Cohesive’s Aria Operating System (OS) software, which is used on Cohesive’s patented TurboFlow® and Multiplexing LC Systems, to the Xcalibur software which operates the mass spectrometer. Cohesive added this new interface to its latest Aria OS software, version 1.4, to enable interaction with the Xcalibur sample queue.

John Brann, vice president, instrumentation for Cohesive, explains, “We’re very excited to expand this relationship and are extremely pleased with the support Thermo’s devoted to this project. The interface will greatly enhance the interaction between Cohesive’s Aria Systems and Thermo’s Finnigan MS technologies. As a result, we are able to offer our broad-based customers yet another leading LC/MS/MS solution.”

Cohesive’s Aria software provides automated, online operation of its Turbulent Flow and Multiplexing LC Systems. The software controls pump, valve, and autosampler operation, as well as the acquisition system interface to optimize productivity and performance. Aria OS manages all aspects of the process once the samples are loaded and allows a single batch or as many as four sample batches to run simultaneously—each with a unique method.

Cohesive Technologies develops, manufactures, and markets novel liquid chromatography systems and chemistries for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and clinical diagnostic marketplace. These products have made Cohesive a leader in creating new tools for high-throughput bioanalysis. Detailed information about Cohesive Technologies’ products and technology can be found on its web site, which also has a bibliography of publications by Cohesive customers describing their successful use of the technology.
